coliseum
I hope this finds you well wherever you are. Autumn greetings are not as simple as they once were, as we head into another heat wave this coming week in the U.S. and the west coast. We have also been hotly embroiled in what has become an epic political drama of the worst sort. I recently returned from visiting the ancient Coliseum in Rome. The visceral irony that very little has changed in the last few thousand years is like blood and salt in my mouth.

As I hear the cacophony of degradation on a massive scale, perpetuated mostly by the media, I am reminded on a daily basis of the importance of mental and emotional stability and health. Whatever your political affiliations, we Americans are getting a very big reminder lesson on the dangers of ignorance, impulsiveness, and a media that seeks to control our thought processes and infantile drives for profit, pleasure, and security.

From my perspective, this relates back to the wellness we embody as individuals. This past week a new documentary called “In Utero,” directed by Kathleen Gyllenhaal, was released through several media outlets and in cities across the globe. In it, skilled researchers and practitioners share their personal experiences of trauma and their discoveries through decades of work. Hearing these experts share their personal stories of trauma, for me, serves as a powerful awakener for the science community to humanize mental and emotional health, and prioritize our mothers and women in our world.

In the film, Dr. Gabor Mate, shares with humble eloquence and humanity on the subject of life before and in the womb as the most important issue we face as individuals and as a society, especially in dealing with addiction. I couldn’t agree more. I have dedicated my life’s work to these understandings, because I recognized early on in my own experience a need for sustainable relationships first with myself, and then with others. These imprints that developed and that we carry began with our mothers. “In Utero” elucidates scientific research and shared clinical experiences, so we have no doubt that trauma can be passed down. A mother’s health on all levels is paramount in creating healthy individuals, and therefore a healthy, sustainable society.

I know from my own inner work and from working with people for the past 15 years how deeply challenging, profoundly liberating, and necessary this work is. When I see the possibility of the leader of the free world inciting violence, misogyny and bigotry, I see the need for healing of a nation. I see people that have suffered an epidemic of emotional neglect, suppression, and powerlessness: trauma. Combine this with media corporations that invest more in a close election, ratings and money, and we have a window into the pain and suffering of our world. The media is also comprised of people who suffer from deep levels of insecurity, where money and power become more important than a conscience: think Rome. We must be a people of inclusion that looks inward, that calibrates to a moral compass, so we can lead ourselves into a sustainable future of health and responsibility.

So, in a time of need for healing and awakening to the importance of the Mother, Women, the Feminine, and our Relationships, my next Embodiment Process Workshop in June will help you transform the imprints you inherited. The Process will ignite a healthy and empowered relationship with yourself and others. There are three spots left, if any of you are called to delve deeper, now is a great time.

And if you’ve ever wanted to share my work with anyone or learn and understand more about it, watch this film! It’s available on Amazon.com for rental or purchase, as well other outlets.

Amore,
Angelica
